if lebanese people had the strength to demand hisbullah to STOP their aggresiveness and DEMAND from their own primeminister to act like a leader and not like a muppet, well then maybe all these horrible pictures wouldnt exist.
Israel's reaction is a must.
lebanese people- learn to control your life! dont let hisbullah, syria or the US and israel do what they want! you have an army. use it for peace making!!
till then - your life is in the hands of others! know it.

Greetings from Brazil!

While we from the other side of the world seeand are horrified with the scenes of war, and while 80% of Brazilians see the Israeli attacks as too imposing on Lebanese civilians, we cannot condone the radical positions adopted by Hezbollah.

Brazilians tend to think of themselves as liberals and a peace-loving people despite all of our problems. The conflict in the middle east is just to distant and too complicated for most Brazilians to truly grasp it -- to understand all of its sides.

What is clear to most Brazilians, however, is that as long as Israel respects and negotiate with its neighbors respecting human dignity, it has every right to live in peace within secure borders and without being attacked or suffer terrorist attacks - be it from states or terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah.

The general view in Brazil is that even though Hezbollah really plays a charity role and functions as a party, it still is much more a terrorist organization than anything else, with fundamentalists who do not respect minorities in Lebanon and truly want to destroy Israel running the show.

Claiming the Shabaa farmlands as a motive to attack Israel - a land that never belonged to Lebanon according to the UN itself - is preposterous.

Brazilians ar appalled to see the destruction Israel is causing, but most of us still see Hezbollah as the true ones responsible for attacking Israel in its soil and bringing Lebanon and Israel into this war.

This fanaticism by Hezbollah becomes even more clear when for example we open one of the main newspapers here in Brazil today, 27/7 - called O Estado de S. Paulo (www.estadao.com.br) - and see two opposing interviews.

The first is with the military aid to the President of Israel, Ron Benyishay (http://www.estado.com.br/editorias/2006/07/27/int-1.93.9.20060727.9.1.xml). He doesn't justify the large number of civilian casualties, on the contrary, he also says that even when civilians die, the bombardments are meant to cripple Hezbollahs ability, and he does make a point of asking the journalist, what people expected Israel to do when you have rockets falling on their towns, and Hezbollah enters its territory and kills and kidnaps its soldiers. He asks if people expect them to give sedatives to hezbollah instead of attacking them.

This interview while does not calm the heart of Brazilians who see the destruction and killing in Lebanon, gives us food for thought. Why Hezbollah decides to go to war without consulting the government in which it participates and the people it so claims to love?

On the next page we see an interview with Hezbollah parliament member Hussein al-Hajj Hassan (http://www.estado.com.br/editorias/2006/07/27/int-1.93.9.20060727.3.1.xml).

You know what he says? That they do not regret the operation to capture the soldiers, that they would do it all over again even if they knew Israel would do what it did, that they will not give up their arms, that they will not agree to a cease-fire even if it means making this war bigger, and that they never attacked Israel - the operation to capture Israeli soldier was a defense act, against Israel keeping Hezbollah militants (who attacked Israel) in jails (as any civilized country would do.

Even more shocking is to read what he says next (my translation):
"Reporter: It seems you are considering this [Hezbollah winning the war] might not happen?

Hassan: This is not a possibility. We will fight till the end. I must explain what is our education. It is about death, victory, and martyrs. ... "

We Brazilians value life not death. Apparently so do the Israelis, because whenever we see they speaking they say they want to protect their lives, the sanctity of life, and even being sorry for civilian deaths on the other side - be it Lebanese or Palestinias.

Reading this opposes Israel to Hezbollah, and while Brazilians are sorry for the Lebanese, it turns this opposition to the sanity and responsible views of a state who values life even though it wages war in a very forcible way, to the clear insanity and craziness of Hezbollah.

Moreover, reading this creates even more misconception in the West about muslim values. No one here would ever say that our culture or education is that of death and martyrdom, but rather life and social justice.

The Lebanese should really unite -- not against Israel who would not be bombing all of Lebanon if Hezbollah had not done what it did -- but against Hezbollah who has kidnapped all of Lebanon for their crazy, pan-Islamic, imperialistic views of righteousness in this world.

Throwing the whole region into a war is only good for Hezbollah, Syria and Iran. The Lebanese (and Israelis) gain nothing from it!

You wanted Hezbollah? You hosted it, you supported it? You celebrated when your brothers blew up buses with kids in Israel?
Well, you've got what you wanted. Now you know how it looks.

To Geezmo (your name says it all), the brazilian twit, and the rest who think like the both of you:

You know nothing about the Middle East. And if you're from the USA/Canada you certainly know nothing about your own American politics. In case you didn't know, the world's most invasive terror organization that it will ever know in all its existence on this planet is the MOSSAD. Perhaps you all should learn about the Mossad before you throw your crap all over the place, which obviously fails to make any aim at anything resembling truth. Naturally. I, for one, am sick of people who think they know everything about the world they know which really amounts to less than zero.

BTW, Hezbollah is not a terrorist organization. Not by a long shot, sweeties. Stop inhaling the ink fumes from your pathetically run Zionist newspapers and magazines. Stop getting sucked into the screens of your Zionist television sets. I know you love the chic styles that your -poor excuse for a human being - condoleeza rice wears and you can't wait to see what she'll wear next, but please: you're giving us rational people a headache with your obvious stupidity.

No one knows better the history of Israel's bloodbath massacres like the Arab Nations, especially Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. Resistence groups have been forming for decades because of the Sick, Twisted, Monstrocities of Israel/USA/"jewish-Zionist Lobby.

Read the history of Sabra and Shatila and then ask yourselves: Would it have made a difference at all if Hamas and Hezbollah existed at all?

The answer is: NO.
